Umbrella
Here's a personal piece I got around to finishing between assignments. Just getting in the mood for the closest thing we have to winter here in California.
Beast Rider - Stranger
While getting stuff together for the Massive Black workshop, I realized that I have a bunch of concepts I forgot to post up here! I'll start with this character, Stranger. He was designed as part of the Beast Rider project I mentioned earlier. This is the finalized design based off the pencil thumbnails I posted awhile back. More art to come soon!

Mob Wars - El Patron
Well it's been a hectic last few months! I moved cities, and started doing some freelance projects for some awesome companies! Metamoki recently released this boss character you can fight in their popular Facebook game, Mob Wars, so I thought I'd post up a full resolution image on my blog and show you guys some of the process behind it:
After receiving a brief from the art director, I started out with some quick thumbnails to get a sense for the character and composition. They liked the pose from thumbnail 1, but the attitude and facial expression of thumbnail 2. Based on the feedback, I went on to develop the image in color:
After a few tweaks, I added a casino to the background and created the final image they used in the game. Many thanks to the guys at Metamoki for giving me the chance to work on their title!

False Start
Unfortunately I do not remember this models name. This long pose was supposed to be my first figure painting, however the model only posed for us for a few days before falling ill. Hopefully whoever she was, she's doing much better now.
Things have been pretty busy for me lately, as I've had the amazing opportunity to be working on contract assignments for Volta. They are an amazing studio and I've been running at full steam trying to match the quality and speed of the other talented artists I've been working with. As a result this blog has been a little lacking for the last month or so, however I still want to push myself and try to find the time to continue on with personal work and studies, as well as scanning and organizing the pile of artwork gathering dust around here. Time to crank it into overdrive!

Huck Finn Project - Jim
Here's another character I did while at the atelier, this time for a redesign project based on the novel Huck Finn. This was my take on Jim. In our project he was a human mutated by a pharmaceutical company, disguised so he could travel with Huck and his band of mercenaries outside of the dystopian city of St. Petersburg, to the outerlands where he could find a cure.

Studies for the Jay and Danbi Figure Drawings
Got back home and managed to dig up these gestures from the long pose drawings I posted earlier. I could only find one from the session with Danbi, but if I find any more I'll tack them onto another gesture post!
